I have always had a special interest in giving back not just to my alma-mater but to the community as a way of communicating my learnings as an Instructor in higher education. Since 2001, I have taught several design related courses in Media Studies and Media Design at The New School / Parsons. I instruct, teach, lead and mentor individual students and teams in visualing and executing their portfolio ready projects

The courses I teach involve the use of design thinking, the process and critical precepts of media practice through project based course Students work with sound and digital media, the moving image and its sequencing for digital making. Projects involve creative problem solving / prototyping, UX design, research to image making with audio / video. The academic setting allows me to set forward thing design challenges using regenerative design as a framework. I encourage students to work in multifunctional teams based on their backgrounds to ideate, iterate and build around innovative solutions. The courses Icurrently teach: User Experience Prototyping & Design Media Practises: Design

User Experience (UX Design) processes help drive meaningful engagement between design teams, end users and interactive media experiences. Studnet project examples can range from simple product applications to advancing solutions for non-profit missions. I leverage human-centered design methodologies for problem-solving design challenges and guide students from inspiration and ideation to rapid prototyping while they develop portfolio-ready digital projects. Working in teams students are prompted to develop UX/insights, information architectures, user/task flows, low/high fidelity wireframes, and design systems/digital assets for the design to tech handovers.

IMPACT Teaching is a two way process and very regenerative in terms of ideas we bring to the table. Learning about students is learning with end users and co-creating futures. I have found balancing a day job with teaching has been the perfect way to be stay fresh consistently!
